This Week at Grace and Faith -- August 26, 2007

"Today - Grace worship services will be broadcast on Sleepy Eye Mediacom Cable channel 8, at 10:00 a.m. Worship services at Faith, New Ulm, begin at 10:30 a.m.

"Wednesday -- Grace worship services will be broadcast on Sleepy Eye Mediacom cable channel 8, at 7:00 p.m. The service is always available for viewing on the Internet at this address: www.sleepyeyelutheran.com.

"Friday - Bible Class at the Brown County Jail, 1:00 p.m. Ryan Fischer class in Sleepy Eye, 4:30 p.m.

"Sunday - Grace Communion services begin at 9:00 a.m. Communion services at Faith, New Ulm, begin at 10:30.

News and Notes -- August 26, 2007

"Eugene Huiras returned home from the Veteran's Hospital on Wednesday, though he is still quite weak. Orlean Anderson has made some progress in recovering from severe back and neck pain. We thank God for His care of our fellow believers.

"We opened the August 15 meeting of the Women of Grace by singing hymns Nos. 388, 376 and 568.  There were 11 ladies present, along with Pastor Naumann.  We continued our study of Romans,  Chapter 6. <> The minutes of the July meeting were read and approved. <> The treasurer reported a balance of $752.70.  We received  $10 from Mabel Bloemke thanking us for the subscription to the Branches magazine.  Offerings amounted to $39.00.  Paula Naumann presented one bill in the amount of $56.80 for expenses on the Corn Days float. <> A note from Tina Eichstadt was read confirming the 8 subscriptions for the Branches magazines. <> Pastor and Paula Naumann reported on visits to shut-ins.  Pastor also informed us of the plans for the Corn Days float.  He also mentioned that the sign for Wednesday's After School Bible class is being worked on by Printwear Graphics.  He also informed us of the upcoming wedding of a couple who is taking adult instructions. <> Sending cards this month are Alma Romberg, Daun Klotz and Lois Maas. <> We will be hosting the Minnesota Delegate Conference this year, on September 23rd.  Fifty delegates are expected.  More discussion and plans will be made at our September meeting.  <> Project Kinship payment is due September 1st in the amount of $200.  The treasurer will send the payment. <> A list of items that we are collecting for Adam and Aimee Schlie will be posted in the bulletin.  Items should be donated by September 2nd. <> Our next meeting will be held September 19, with Lois Maas serving.  <> Pastor closed the meeting with prayer.          -- Rita Geiger, Secretary/Treasurer

"Following next Sunday's service, a care package will be sent from Grace to Adam and Aimee Schlie, who are stationed in Iraq. Some items that may be sent are: chapstick, beef jerky (no pork), nuts, microwave popcorn, gum, music CDs, tea bags, crossword puzzles, wet wipes (individual packets), instant oatmeal packets, DVD movies, granola bars/mixes, single-serve powder drinks (Crystal Lite/Kool-Aid), paperback books, magazines, instant coffee, snack foods, fruit snacks/dried fruit, or pop tarts. Please leave them in the church kitchen, marked "care package."
